Ironman Triathlon

Ironman triathlon is an amazing long distance event that gets under the skin of most triathletes. 2.4mile swim striaght into a 112 mile bike followed by a 26.2 mile marathon.  Wow that sounds painful I hear you say well it is but triathletes love it.  Branded as one of the hardest events on the planet people pay in the region of $600 just to enter.  The ultimate goal is to reach Ironman Hawaii the world championship held once a year in Kona the home of Ironman triathlon.

Must events have a 17 hour cut off - and these guys mean it.  I've seen people within 1 minute of teh cut off line get turned away from the finish shoot and not give a finishers medal.  it is brutal after they have been out in the sun for 17 hours trying to complete this epic race.  they also have staged cut mandatory swim cut off for the 2.4-mile (3.9 km) swim is 9:20 a.m. (2 hours 20 minutes), the mandatory bike cut off time is 5:30 p.m. (8 hours 10 minutes), and the mandatory marathon cut off is midnight (6 hours 30 minutes). To make things event harder for you to achieve.

As an ironman I can say you will not regret entering one of these epic one day events that will in all honesty take over your life for a good year or so.  But get signed up to the next Iron man triathlon that you can and I hope to see you on the finish soot.
